Classes

Diaper Gym

Walking to 3 years old

Our Diaper Gym program is specifically designed for children who are just beginning to walk through the age of three.  Children participate in the class with an adult other than the instructor (mom, dad, babysitter, etc.).  These 45 minute classes begin with an opening activity and continue with three activity circuits and conclude with an ending activity, then bubbles and stamps. Through each of the three circuits, students are encouraged to swing on the ropes, hang on the bars, jump on the trampolines and much more.  Our scaled down equipment is perfectly designed for our younger students.

Through each of the three circuits, students are introduced to the basic element of the sport of gymnastics.  Our scaled down equipment is perfectly designed for our younger students.

School Age Classes

School age classes focus on progressive skill development on the Olympic events (GIRLS-vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor  BOYS-vault, high bar, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and floor). Jump Start also offers one hour tumbling classes that focus on developing acrobatic skill using the floor exercise area, trampolines and air trak.  These are one hour to 1 ½ hour classes for children in Kindergarten and older.

The Rainbow Skill Program is a complete developmental program for our non competitive school age girls & boys gymnastics and tumbling classes that allows for easier tracking of skill achievement and level advancement. We will be dividing our school age classes by both age and level.  Previously we only used age to determine class placement.  By dividing students by level, we can assure that each student is able to receive focused attention to master the skills they need to accelerate to the next level.

Team Development

Our program for developing gymnasts for the Junior Olympic Competitive program begins with invitation only classes at the preschool level.  Students who excel are identified and placed in our team development program.  If they continue to excel and choose to, they may eventually participate in our competitive program and compete in competitions sanctioned by USA Gymnastics.

Competition Team

Jump Start Gymnastics provides a USAG Sanctioned competition team called the Jump Stars.  The team competes at eight to ten meets around the state during the season and trains year round.  Gymnasts in Level 4 work out a minimum of 9 hours a week (3 hours, 3 times a week), with upper levels working out up to 15 hours a week.  Gymnastics, unlike other sports, is year round. For most of our teams, the competitive season is from October through March/April and  during the remaining time gymnasts are training new skills.

Kids in Motion

For Children with Special Needs

Kids in Motion are recreational gymnastics and movement classes for children with special physical and cognitive learning needs.  The goal is to give each child what all children are entitled to: the opportunity to experience an active life that is filled with excitement, self-confidence, discovery and most importantly, FUN!   Class structure assists with the development of such skills as:  waiting, taking turns, sharing, self-regulation, transitioning from one activity to another, and modulation of behavior.  In turn, this helps children be more alert and organized at school and more relaxed and able to integrate in family, social, and community events and gatherings.

Class sizes are one on one or small depending on learning needs.  Our instructors work with therapists and parents and consult with Easter Seals personnel to develop lesson plans to meet individual goals and needs.  Our instructors build personal, nurturing bonds with the students, which allow the children to excel far beyond the perceived limits.  Kids in Motion was developed and operates in collaboration with Easter Seals.
