The girls on our Jump Stars team have the option of competing in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program or USA Gymnastics Xcel program.
The Junior Olympic program consists of Levels 3-10 and is a more time-intensive than our Xcel program.
In this program, Levels 3-5 are compulsory levels. That means all gymnasts of the same level compete the same routine. In Level 3-5 competitive opportunities through USA Gymnastics are provided up to the state championship level.
Currently our Level 3s train 3 days a week for a total of 9 hours a week. Level 4s and 5s train 4 days a week for a total of 12 hours a week.
Levels 6-10are the optional levels of the Junior Olympic program. In optional levels, each gymnast competes a unique set of routines choreographed specifically for their abilities and skill set. In Level 6 and 7 competitive opportunities through USA Gymnastics are provided up to the state championship level. In levels 8-10 there are additional competitive opportunities past the state championship. Depending on the level these can include regional and national championships.
Our Level 6-10 gymnasts train 4 days per week for a total of 16 hours/week.
The Xcel team is geared for gymnasts 10 years and older. There are five different divisions within the Xcel program. Gymnasts in all five divisions of Xcel compete optional style routines (a unique set of routines choreographed specifically for the athletes individual abilities). The Xcel program provides flexibility in the skills that the athlete is allowed to perform that they would not have in the compulsory (Level 3-5) programs. In Xcel, competitive opportunities through USA Gymnastics are provided up to the state championship level and at some Xcel levels include regional championships.
Gymnasts in the Xcel program practice between 2-3 days per week (4-9 hours per week).
