Dance With Me!

A 45 minute class is creatively designed for young dancers and a parent or adult friend. The class consists of a floor warm up, ballet, tap, and imaginative play throughout. Be prepared to take shoes off while we fly, twirl, boogie across the dance floor! All participants are invited to perform our annual dance showcase. (Dress code and dance shoes are encouraged for children, but not required. Comfortable clothes are suggested for adults. We ask that no street shoes are worn in the dance studio, however adults may wear them if they are clean and soft-soled.)

Suggested ages: 2-3.5 with required adult participation 

 

Combo Ballet/Tap 1

This 45 minute class is the perfect introduction to dance for the Pre-K dancer! The class begins with 20 minutes of ballet, including a short warm-up, introduction to basic ballet terms and practice across the floor.  After a 5 minute break to grab a drink and change shoes, we continue with a 20 minute Tap class designed to introduce your dancer to basic tap steps and develop their sense of rhythm. Students will perform separate ballet and tap dances in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: 3.5-5 (Students must be potty trained. Parents of 3 & 4 yrs old must remain on site)

 

Combo Ballet/Tap 2

This 60 minute class is designed for your 5-7 year old dancer. The class begins with 30 minutes of ballet, including stretching and barre exercises.  Students will learn proper posture and body alignment, terminology, and begin progressions across the floor.  Since the dancers are already warmed up, a quick change of shoes and they will be ready for 30 minutes of tap! Tap class is designed to improve your dancer’s sense of rhythm and musicality. Students will perform separate ballet and tap dances in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages 5-7

 

DanceNastics 1

This 60 minute class is the perfect introduction to dance & gymnastics for the child that just can’t decide between the two! The class begins with 20 minutes of ballet, including a short warm-up, introduction to basic ballet terms and practice across the floor.  We continue with a 20 minute Tap class designed to introduce your dancer to basic tap steps and develop their sense of rhythm. We then finish up in the gym learning the basic gymnastic skills on floor, beam & bars.  Students will perform separate ballet, tap and gymnastics dances in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: 3.5-5 (Students must be potty trained. Parents of 3 & 4 yrs old must remain on site)

 

DanceNastics 2/Dancenastics Combined Levels 2/3

This 60 minute class is for students who were previously enrolled in DanceNastics 1 and new students who wish to continue developing skills in all three areas of concentration. This class is 20 minutes of ballet, 20 minutes of Tap and 20 minutes in the gym.  Students will perform separate ballet, tap, and gymnastics dances in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: 6-7 (Students must be potty trained)

 

DanceNastics 3

This 90 minute class is for students who were previously enrolled in DanceNastics 2 and wish to continue developing skills in all three areas of concentration. This class is 30 minutes of ballet, 30 minutes of Tap and 30 minutes in the gym.  Students will perform separate ballet, tap, and gymnastics dances in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: 8+

 

Musical Theater

Taught using show tunes from Broadway Musicals, this class will prepare students to dance in a theatrical production and improve audition skills for those interested in trying out for local community theatre productions. Students will practice singing & dancing at the same time, as well as individualized choreography as part of a group production. Dances learned throughout the year will be from such shows as Matilda, Annie, Joseph…, Oliver, Hairspray, Encanto, Frozen, Footloose, Grease, Cats, and A Chorus Line. This class will perform one musical theater piece in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: Ages 6-10

 

Lyrical/Contemporary

Lyrical is a combination of dance techniques that focuses on the emotion and feeling of the music.  Movements are more free flowing than a traditional ballet or jazz class.  Ballet technique and proper alignment are taught to more modern music and movements are coordinated to the lyrics.  This class will perform one lyrical dance in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: Level 1: Ages 6-10, Level 2: Ages 10+

 

Hip Hop Jazz 

Taught using popular music, this combo class offers a more free form of dance while still stressing correct posture and body alignment.  Students will learn basic jazz technique using progressions and short combinations.  Hip hop is a form of street dance that involves sharp, quick movements, isolations, and quick level changes. This class will perform one hip-hop jazz piece in our annual dance showcase.

Suggested ages: Level 1: Ages 6-10, Level 2: Ages 10+

  

 

Shoes/Attire for Dance Classes

ALL STUDENTS:

  • Hair should be pulled back and secured away from face. 
  • No food, gum, or toys. 
  • Water bottles are permitted in the dance studio.
  • No jewery, mid-drift shirts, jeans, short loose shorts, or street shoes allowed.
  • Underwear is not typically worn under tights/leotards.

 

Ballet/Tap/DanceNastics Classes:

Girls

  • Pink ballet shoes (canvas split-sole recommended but not required)
  • Leotard (solid color preferred)
  • Ballet pink tights (convertible highly recommended for dancenastic students)
  • Black patent tap shoes (no ribbons - elastic or velcro only)

Boys

  • Black ballet shoes (canvas split-sole recommended but not required)
  • Fitted t-shirt, shorts (solid color preferred) 
  • Black tap shoes

 

Lyrical/Hip Hop/Musical Theater:

Girls and Boys – Black slip on jazz shoe, fitted comfortable clothing, no baggy pants or shirts please
